Based off of the Editor’s Choice-winning Scarpa Rapid, the Scarpa Rapid Mid GTX is a hybrid between your favorite trail runners and an approach shoe, with a mid-cut cuff to help provide stability on rugged, rocky trails. At a claimed weight of 10.6 ounces, it’s miles lighter than most mid-cuts, and it feels like it. On a backpacking trip in the Swedish Arctic, the toothy outsole bit down on everything from loose rocks to thick mud, while the flexible upper was comfortable to wear out of the box with no break-in period.
