The Ultimate Smart Lock with Camera

eufy is expanding its smart home security lineup with the launch of the FamiLock E40, a new video smart lock that combines facial recognition, a 2K security camera, and a built-in doorbell into a single device. The new lock is available now and carries an MSRP of $299.99.

Designed for homeowners looking to simplify entry and monitoring at the front door, the FamiLock E40 aims to reduce the number of devices mounted around an entryway. Instead of juggling a separate smart lock, video doorbell, and camera, the E40 packages those functions into one unit.

Facial Recognition Takes Center Stage

The headline feature is AI-powered facial recognition, allowing users to unlock the door with a glance. According to eufy, the system can store up to 50 recognized faces and supports on-device processing for privacy-focused operation.

Facial recognition joins a lengthy list of entry methods. Users can unlock the door through fingerprint recognition, the eufy app, passcodes, or a traditional physical key. The lock can store up to 50 fingerprints, making it suitable for larger households or frequent visitors.

For anyone who has ever stood on a porch juggling groceries, a backpack, and a coffee while searching for keys, facial recognition may prove to be the most appreciated feature in the package.

Built-In Camera and Doorbell

The FamiLock E40 includes a 2K camera with a 135-degree head-to-toe viewing angle. The wider perspective is intended to capture visitors, packages, and activity near the doorstep in a single view.

eufy pairs the camera with radar-based AI motion sensing technology, which the company says helps reduce false alerts while providing real-time notifications when activity is detected.

The lock is rated IP65 for weather resistance and is designed to operate in a wide range of outdoor conditions.

Privacy and Smart Home Integration

Privacy remains a major talking point across the smart home category, and eufy is emphasizing a local-first security approach with the FamiLock E40. Facial recognition data and security processing are handled on the device itself rather than relying solely on cloud-based systems.

The company notes that the platform does not require monthly subscription fees, a welcome detail in a market where recurring charges have become increasingly common.

The lock is compatible with major smart home ecosystems, including Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings. Matter support is included as well, helping the device fit into mixed-platform smart home setups.

Part of a Larger FamiLock Family

The FamiLock E40 joins a growing family of smart locks from eufy. The lineup includes the FamiLock E35, which uses palm vein recognition technology as its primary biometric unlocking method.

The FamiLock E40 is available now online and in 30 Home Depot stores. Broader availability through eufy and Amazon is scheduled to begin in July.

For homeowners looking to add biometric security to the front door, the FamiLock E40 brings together a smart lock, camera, and doorbell in a single package, potentially freeing up both wall space and one more reason to carry keys around.

More information about the FamiLock E40 and the broader FamiLock lineup can be found on the official eufy website.
