Punjab Boards Introduce New Marking Policy for Inter Practical Exams 2026

Punjab education boards have introduced a new marking policy for Intermediate Part-II practical examinations 2026, bringing a major change to the evaluation process by introducing centralized checking for the written portion of practical papers.

According to the latest update, the BISE Lahore Intermediate Part-II Practical Examinations 2026 will commence on 10 July 2026. The revised marking system will apply to practical exams in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, and Statistics.

Under the new policy, practical examiners will no longer evaluate the written answer sheets at examination centres. Instead, the written section of practical papers will be assessed through a centralized marking system at the respective education boards, similar to the process used for theory examinations.

However, students will continue to be evaluated at their practical examination centres for laboratory performance, practical notebooks, and viva voce. Candidates are therefore advised to prepare thoroughly for every component of the practical examination, including written answers, lab work, notebooks, and oral assessments.

New Marks Distribution for Inter Part-II Practical Exams 2026

Subject Practical Performance, Notebook & Viva Written Answer Sheet Total Marks
Physics 16 14 30
Chemistry 14 16 30
Biology 13 17 30
Computer Science 26 24 50
Statistics 20 10 30

The new evaluation method aims to ensure greater transparency and uniformity in marking by shifting the assessment of written practical papers from examination centres to centralized board-level checking.
