INIU Cougar P63 Power Bank Review

Having power wherever you go has become more important than ever. Almost everything we use now runs on a rechargeable battery. Phones, tablets, laptops, earbuds, cameras, watches, and even some camping gear all need to stay charged. I travel quite a bit between camping trips, family vacations, work, and running events, so I always have several devices with me.

My family recently spent eleven nights traveling with our travel trailer through West Virginia, Hocking Hills in Ohio, and Cedar Point. We had two kids and three dogs along for the trip. If you have ever taken a long road trip with kids, you already know how it goes.

“Can you plug in my phone?”

“My iPad is almost dead.”

“I need a charger.”

No matter how many USB and USB C ports a vehicle has, there never seem to be enough. That is why I think a good portable power bank makes a lot of sense, especially when it offers fast charging at a reasonable price.

For this review I spent most of my time using the INIU Cougar P63 while also trying the smaller P62 and larger P64 to see where each one fits.

First Impressions

The first thing I noticed about the P63 was its size. It packs a 25000 mAh battery into a body that feels much smaller than I expected. It slides into a backpack pocket, center console, or cup holder without taking up much room. Even with the larger battery it never felt bulky.

The digital display makes it easy to check the remaining battery level and the built in USB C cable doubles as a carrying strap. I liked having a cable ready whenever I needed it because I did not have to dig through my backpack looking for one.

The P63 includes two USB C ports and one USB A port so I could charge several devices at the same time. It supports up to 100 watts of output which means it can quickly charge everything from a phone to many modern laptops.

Looking at the specifications tells part of the story, but using the P63 really showed what it could do. The 100 watt USB C output handled every device I connected including my wife’s laptop. The large battery capacity let me recharge my phone several times before I had to recharge the power bank. I also appreciated the digital display because I always knew exactly how much battery remained instead of guessing from a few indicator lights.

Road Trip Performance

I really put the P63 to work during our eight hour drive from West Michigan to Fayetteville, West Virginia.

Instead of running charging cables all over the truck we kept the power bank close to whoever needed it. The kids charged their phones while listening to music and watching videos. Since the cable only needed to reach from the power bank to the device we no longer had long cords stretched across the seats.

That turned out to be more useful than I expected because our dogs have a habit of stepping on charging cables and pulling them out of the ports. With the power bank sitting right next to the person using it that problem almost disappeared.

By the time we reached our campground everyone still had charged devices without the usual mess of cables inside the truck.

Camping With the P63

Testing the INIU Cougar P63

Some people might wonder why you need a power bank if you already have a camper.

For me the biggest advantage is speed.

The P63 delivers much more charging power than many standard USB outlets found in vehicles, campers, hotels, or older wall adapters. If I only have fifteen or twenty minutes before leaving again, I can plug my phone into the P63 and quickly gain a useful amount of battery instead of waiting much longer with a slower charger.

After four nights in Fayetteville we moved to Hocking Hills State Park in Ohio.

INIU Cougar P63 Charging Capacity

While we were there my son needed to finish summer work for his Honors English class. We charged his laptop with the P63 while relaxing at the campsite. That is one of those situations where having a high power portable charger becomes incredibly useful. It is not just for phones anymore. Tablets, laptops, cameras, headphones, portable speakers, and many other electronics benefit from having fast portable power available.

Everyday Use

The trip ended but I kept using the P63 almost every day.

This summer I started working for a moving company. Some days we travel several hours for a job and I spend most of the day away from home. I throw the P63 into my backpack before leaving and never worried about my phone battery. I can recharge it multiple times before the power bank needs attention.

It has become one of those gadgets that I automatically grab whenever I leave the house.

INIU Cougar P63 Charging Performance

During my testing the P63 delivered exactly what I wanted. My devices recognized the fast charging speeds right away and I never had trouble charging multiple devices at once.

One feature I really liked was the built in USB C cable. It worked as both a charging cable and a carrying strap so I always had a cable available. That may seem like a small feature but it made everyday use much more convenient.

The digital display also made it easy to see exactly how much battery remained before leaving for the day.

The Rest of the Cougar Power Bank Series

Although I spent most of my testing with the P63 I also used the other two Cougar Series power banks.

INIU Cougar P62

The P62 offers a 20000 mAh battery and up to 65 watts of charging power. It has the same compact design and digital display while saving a little space and weight. If you mostly charge phones, tablets, handheld gaming devices, or an occasional laptop, the P62 offers an excellent balance between portability and performance.

INIU Cougar P64

The P64 increases the maximum output to 140 watts while keeping the same 25000 mAh battery capacity. It targets users who regularly charge larger laptops or other high performance electronics. If you need the fastest charging speeds available in the Cougar lineup, the P64 is the model to choose.

Cougar Series Comparison

Model Capacity Maximum Output Best For
P62 20000 mAh 65 W Everyday carry and smaller devices
P63 25000 mAh 100 W Best balance of size, capacity, and performance
P64 25000 mAh 140 W Power users and larger laptops

Final Thoughts on the INIU Cougar P63

After several weeks of using the INIU Cougar P63 during family travel, camping, and everyday work, it has earned a permanent place in my backpack.

It solved a problem every family experiences on long trips. There are never enough charging ports and somebody always needs more battery. The compact size made it easy to carry, the fast charging saved time throughout the day, and the large battery capacity kept our phones, tablets, and laptop running when we needed them most.

The P62 gives you a smaller and lighter option while the P64 offers even more charging power for demanding devices. For most people though, I think the INIU P63 hits the sweet spot with its combination of size, performance, and battery capacity.
