Elden Ring fans have plenty of new content to anticipate. Following the releases of Shadow of the Erdtree and Elden Ring: Nightreign, developers are expanding the franchise across multiple platforms. Steamforged Games recently concluded its crowdfunding campaign for Elden Ring: Rot and Sorcery. The company plans to ship this officially licensed board game expansion in July 2027.
Massive Crowdfunding Success
Steamforged Games hosted the project on the GameFound platform. The campaign achieved incredible success. Ultimately, 4,247 backers supported the project. They raised approximately $2.5 million USD in total. Consequently, the team scheduled the fulfillment phase for next July.
Previously, Steamforged adapted FromSoftware’s award-winning RPG into a highly successful tabletop format. The original Elden Ring: The Board Game featured cooperative exploration, character progression, and challenging boss encounters. Now, Rot and Sorcery builds directly on that solid foundation. Players can play the new expansion as a standalone experience. Alternatively, they can combine it with the previous board game content to create a massive interconnected campaign.
Exploring Liurnia & Caelid
Rot and Sorcery transports players to iconic regions within the Lands Between. The expansion introduces two brand-new core sets. First, “Machinations of the Witch” explores Liurnia of the Lakes. Second, “Dominion of Rot” throws players into the dangerous, Scarlet Rot-infested wastelands of Caelid.
Additionally, the board game supports one to four players. Fans will discover new quests, NPCs, equipment, and enemies. Moreover, the game features brutal boss encounters inspired directly by the video game. For instance, developers confirmed Starscourge Radahn as a major boss fight.
During the campaign, backers chose from multiple pledge tiers. Steamforged offered standalone core sets, combined bundles, upgrade packs for returning players, and campaign-exclusive rewards. However, standard crowdfunding rules apply, meaning fulfillment timelines and final content could change before production finishes.
Upcoming Elden Ring Releases & Rumors
While tabletop players wait for 2027, video game fans have imminent releases approaching. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition launches next month in August 2026. This version introduces new starting classes, armor sets, weapons, and Ashes of War.
Meanwhile, FromSoftware officially confirmed other projects currently in development. The studio will release The Duskbloods on the Nintendo Switch 2. Finally, an exciting new rumor suggests FromSoftware is developing a brand-new soulslike game set in a pirate world. Gamers must wait to see how that specific rumor unfolds.
