When organizations start thinking about modernizing their customer communication management (CCM) environments, the conversation almost always leads back to two things: capabilities and infrastructure.
I’ve had this conversation with customers across industries, and the pattern is consistent.
I want to share some of the insights from a recent webinar that I was part of with Tamara Stachavan, Senior Partner Solution Architect at AWS. We discussed our perspectives on modernizing CCM environments using AWS and Precisely EngageOne
What Drives CCM Modernization Decisions?
One of the key topics we explored in the session was the drivers behind organizations choosing to modernize CCM systems.
As mentioned, there are two recurring themes I see come up:

On the compliance side, AWS services report hundreds of billions of auditing events every day and run billions of resource configuration checks every month.

Let me make this concrete. I talk to customers who have anywhere from 8 to 30 servers running CCM applications across multiple facilities. When they start thinking about migration, they have to inventory all of it:

And there’s always a risk they’ll miss something.
When they move to AWS, that whole picture changes. Instead of managing 16 or 30 individual server deployments, they manage a single version deployed via a script. The cost benefits stack up quickly too. Server hardware, facilities costs, electricity, and cooling all go away. And instead of needing specialists who deeply understand how the CCM application interacts with a specific operating environment, customers can leverage generalists who are trained and certified on AWS. On the performance side, we’re seeing real results. Early adopters have seen 8–14% improvements in batch application performance after migrating to AWS — taking advantage of the elasticity and scale that Amazon ECS provides.
