The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 have become the first phones to launch with Google’s Gemini Intelligence and Gemini Nano 4.
Google confirmed the pairing in a developer blog post, stating that Samsung’s new foldable devices come with Gemini Nano 4, an on-device model built on Gemma 4 that supports more than 140 languages and offers improved multimodal understanding over its predecessor.
The Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy with 12 or 16GB of RAM, while the Flip 8 relies on Samsung’s own Exynos 2600 paired with 12GB of RAM. Both configurations clear the 12GB memory threshold that Google has set for Gemini Intelligence eligibility.
Google is treating an expanded task automation feature, which now works across more than 40 apps, as the first capability to ship under the Gemini Intelligence banner on the new foldables.
Several other features Google previewed in May have yet to arrive, including Create My Widget, a keyboard tool called Gboard Rambler, and an Autofill with Google function that draws on Gemini Personal Intelligence.
Alongside the software rollout, android.com now displays a “with Gemini Intelligence” badge on all three of Samsung’s new devices, a label Google ties directly to premium hardware rather than to a specific price tier or region.
That badge criteria points toward Google’s own Pixel 11 series, which is expected to qualify for the same label once it launches, though Samsung has beaten it to market with the feature set intact.
Google has not set out a public timeline for when the remaining Gemini Intelligence features will reach the Fold 8, Flip 8, or any other qualifying device, leaving the pace of further rollout tied to how quickly each capability clears its own testing.
