T-Mobile is introducing new wireless plans built around lower upfront costs, expanded 36-month device financing, and discounted service for college students.

Launching August 6, the plans include the carrier’s new Equipment Installment Plan Flex 36 option, which lets eligible customers spread the cost of a device, taxes, and checkout fees across 36 months. Well-qualified customers may pay nothing upfront, with 0% APR available for a limited time.

The carrier is pairing the financing change with refreshed Experience 2.0 and Essentials 2.0 plans, along with Student Perks plans starting at $30 per month with AutoPay, plus taxes and fees.

Flex 36 Covers More Than the Phone

Traditional $0-down phone offers can still leave customers responsible for taxes and other charges at checkout. T-Mobile says Flex 36 is designed to address that gap by allowing new and existing customers to finance the device, taxes, and fees together.

The option does not guarantee a $0 checkout total for every customer. T-Mobile says it can eliminate upfront costs for well-qualified buyers and lower them for others.

Customers who prefer a more conventional arrangement can choose EIP Standard 36, which extends T-Mobile’s existing 0% APR device financing to 36 months. The longer term can reduce the monthly payment on premium phones, though it also means carrying the installment agreement for an extra year compared with a typical 24-month plan.

Experience 2.0 Plans Add the Financing Options

Existing customers can keep their current service or move to one of T-Mobile’s updated plans.

Essentials 2.0 includes unlimited talk and text, 50GB of premium data, and T-Mobile Tuesdays perks.

Experience More 2.0 adds unlimited premium data, mobile hotspot service, high-speed data in more than 215 countries and destinations, Netflix on Us, Apple TV for $3 per month, device offers, and a five-year price guarantee.

Experience Beyond 2.0 includes T-Satellite connectivity, Hulu, Netflix, and MLB.TV, along with $5 connected-device add-ons. T-Mobile says customers switching to the plan can receive $100 back and access included benefits valued at $650 during the first year.

Student Plans Start at $30 Per Month

T-Mobile’s Student Perks plans give eligible students access to versions of its core plans at reduced prices. Service starts at $30 per month for one line with AutoPay, plus taxes and fees.

Included extras vary by plan and can include 12 months of DashPass, T-Mobile Tuesdays promotions, Shell Fuel Rewards savings, and a monthly $5 movie ticket.

Students can bundle a qualifying plan with T-Mobile 5G Home Internet for another $30 per month with AutoPay, plus taxes and fees. New Home Internet customers may receive a virtual prepaid card worth up to $200.

Eligibility rules, verification requirements, and full plan pricing were not detailed in the release.

A Lower Checkout Bill, With a Longer Commitment

T-Mobile is positioning the new financing options as a way to reduce the cost of switching carriers or replacing several family phones at once. The company cited research indicating that nearly two-thirds of consumers worry about upfront switching costs, which it estimates can average more than $120 per line.

Flex 36 could make checkout easier on the wallet, though customers should weigh the lower initial expense against a three-year payment schedule. A phone may feel wonderfully free on day one, but the installment calendar still keeps receipts.

More details about the Experience 2.0 plans and Flex 36 financing are available through T-Mobile’s Un-carrier website. Student Perks information can be found on the carrier’s student plans page.
