Google Ads will begin migrating or “upgrading” Automatically created assets and campaign-level broad match setting to AI Max starting on September 1, 2026. We knew this was coming and now the process is soon going to begin.
Google emailed some advertisers about this saying, “Starting September 1, 2026, campaigns using automatically created assets (ACA) and/or campaign-level broad match setting will automatically be upgraded to Al Max for Search campaigns.”
Menachem Ani posted a screenshot of the email on X and wrote, “The great merge continues.”
The email says what is changing:
Al Max will be enabled with settings configured to closely mirror your legacy setup once the auto-upgrades are complete:
- For campaigns with Automatically Created Assets (ACA): Your campaigns will be upgraded to Al Max with search term matching and text customization enabled by default.
- For campaigns with the campaign-level broad match setting: Your campaigns will upgrade to Al Max with search term matching enabled by default.
