A new research note from analyst Jeff Pu today says the iPhone 18 will get 12GB of RAM after all, a significant bump up from the 8GB of RAM that the iPhone 17 has. It will also allegedly get the new Dynamic Island design that will make its debut on the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro.
Recently, another analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, said that the iPhone 18, like the iPhone 18e, would only have 9GB of RAM, but Pu says it’s actually only the iPhone 18e that’s getting 9GB. Both the iPhone 18 and the iPhone 18e are expected to be powered by the A20 chip.

And they could be launching at the same time in early 2027. Apple has long been rumored to only announce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra in September, with the ‘vanilla’ iPhone 18, the iPhone 18e, and the iPhone Air 2 coming next year.
Obviously, the more RAM the better for Apple Intelligence features, especially now that in iOS 27 we’re finally getting the much overdue improved, smarter Siri.
