Google announced new personalization features across Search, Discover, and Google News. The goal is to give users more control over their preferred sources and topics.
1. Preferred Sources button
Google introduced a new Preferred Sources button that publishers can embed directly on their websites. When a user clicks the button, that website gets added to their preferred sources, and the user is redirected right back to the publisher’s page they were on.
This makes it easier for that publication to show up more prominently in Top Stories, AI Overviews, and AI Mode.
According to Google, users have already selected more than 600,000 unique sources so far.

2. Customizing the Discover feed
Users will soon be able to further customize their Discover feed. From the three-dot menu on any feed item in the Google app, users will be able to indicate:
- Which topics they want to see more of
- Which topics or links they want to see less of
3. Customized audio briefings in Google News
Users on the Google News app on Android can now customize their daily audio briefings as well. This includes:
- Choosing specific topics to include
- Clear source attribution
- Full article links
- Selected topics tailored to the user
Google also said that publishers participating in its news AI pilot program will enable audio briefings to provide deeper dives into key stories.
