Today, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced that it has approved its last Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program Final Proposal, completing approval of all 56 state and territorial BEAD Final Proposals—a major achievement in ensuring broadband availability across the country.
To commemorate this milestone and witness how the Trump Administration’s reforms have expedited deployment, Assistant Secretary Arielle Roth traveled to Moneta, Virginia with Congressman Morgan Griffith to tour fiber and satellite BEAD projects in his district.
Under the state’s final proposal, BEAD will connect more than 85,000 locations while saving taxpayers more than $930 million and leveraging nearly $430 million in matching funds—equivalent to about 45 percent of the federal BEAD investment in the state.
The BEAD Program was established to ensure universal broadband availability across the United States and to serve as the final federal broadband deployment program. With all Final Proposals now approved, NTIA will continue working with states and territories as they oversee BEAD-funded broadband deployment.
