vivo has started teasing OriginOS 7 through a series of Weibo posts, giving us an early look at the design changes coming to its next software release. The teasers focus heavily on translucent materials, lighting effects, and fluid animations, with several of the new features already being shown in short demos.
A New Translucent Material System
One of the more detailed teasers focuses on what vivo calls its “light and shadow aesthetics” material system. UI elements are designed to interact with the background underneath them, with light and shadow passing through the material to create a more layered appearance.
vivo also talks about pixel-level “see-through colour” technology. When text becomes difficult to read against a complicated background, the system can adjust specific areas in real time to improve contrast.
That should help with one of the obvious problems that comes with translucent interfaces. The effect can look great in promotional images, while readability can quickly become an issue when there’s a busy wallpaper underneath. vivo is at least addressing that directly in OriginOS 7.
Simply put, vivo has closely replicated Apple’s Liquid Glass aesthetic.
Liquid Animations Are a Big Part of the Update
OriginOS 7 also gets a new “liquid animation” system. vivo says its Blue River rendering engine has been rebuilt around Virtual GPU 4.0, with changes to the rendering pipeline and compilation framework. According to vivo, OriginOS 7 renders 14% faster than OriginOS 6.
Pressing a button can create a ripple effect, while dragging across the screen changes the lighting and shadows along the path of the gesture.
New Liquid and Flash Card Lock Screens
The lock screen is getting its own set of new designs. One of them is called the Liquid Theme, which reacts to the phone’s movement.
Tilt or shake the phone and the elements move with a jelly-like effect, accompanied by a water-ripple animation. vivo is comparing the interaction to a fidget toy.
There’s also a Flash Card Theme, where photos, characters, or places can be turned into cards on the lock screen. Clock fonts can be adjusted to match these designs.

Stickers Can Be Created From Your Photos
OriginOS 7 is also getting a new system-wide sticker library. Stickers can be placed on the desktop, in albums, on wallpapers, or on the Always-on Display.
Users can also create their own stickers from photos. The system detects the main subject and cuts it out automatically, so a pet, character, or other object can be turned into a sticker.
OriginOS 7 Launch Timeline
OriginOS 7 is expected to be officially unveiled in September alongside the vivo X500 series in China. For India, the update is expected to arrive sometime next month or possibly in October, although vivo has yet to confirm a specific timeline. More details about supported devices and the rollout should be shared closer to the official launch.
