Google has made changes to the Popular Products report within Merchant Center. These changes took effect at the end of June 2026. Google shared this update on its blog.
Google will now show more accurate data across product, brand, and popular product reports within Merchant Center.
According to Google, these changes mean advertisers can expect:
- Better insights into performance
- Greater coverage in popular products reporting
- Potential changes in product/brand rankings
- Performance and visibility that may vary across available regions
Account owners should review their Popular Products report again, since the new data may look different compared to previous reporting.
These changes aren’t limited to Merchant Center they also apply to the Merchant API and BigQuery.
Google wrote:
“Effective late June 2026, enhancements were made to Merchant Center’s ‘Popular products’ reports. These reporting updates now provide a more accurate and comprehensive view of your products’ performance. You may notice a change to your popular products and brands as these changes may increase your coverage, rankings, and performance across all available regions.”
This is a useful update for advertisers who rely on the Popular Products report to track brand and product performance, since the more accurate data could shift how products rank or appear compared to before. Advertisers should double-check their reports to understand what’s changed for their own account.
