Punjab’s Communication and Works (C&W) Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth has directed officials to complete 82 additional roads by September 7, 2026, under the province’s Local Road Program.
The minister issued the instructions while chairing a meeting attended by senior C&W officials, including Secretary Communications and Works Raja Jahangir Anwar, Special Secretary, Additional Secretaries, Superintending Engineers (SEs), and Executive Engineers (XENs).
The meeting reviewed progress on road projects across Punjab’s North, Central, and South regions. Officials also briefed the minister on signboard installation, lane marking, and beautification work on roads that have already been completed.
Under the new deadline, officials have been tasked with completing 26 roads in the South, 33 in the North, and 23 in the Central region by September 7.
Bharth also directed Chief Engineers to immediately fill vacant positions in field formations to improve monitoring and implementation of development projects.
He instructed officials to inspect the shoulders of roads constructed since 2024 and repair damaged sections within 10 days. Daily field visits were also ordered to monitor road conditions and track the progress of ongoing projects.
The minister further directed the department to continue repairing roads after the monsoon season to ensure that improvements remain effective and durable.
The latest directives are part of the Punjab government’s efforts to improve road infrastructure, address damaged sections, and enhance the overall condition of the province’s road network.
