007 First Light Crosses 4 Million Units Sold in Under Four Months

IO Interactive’s new James Bond game, 007 First Light, has officially crossed 4 million copies sold. The publisher confirmed the number four months after the game came out in May 2026.

The sales story here is a strong one. Right out of the gate, the game sold 2.7 million copies in its very first week. That kind of fast start set it up nicely to reach the four-million mark so quickly.

How it stacks up against other games

Gaming analyst Mat Piscatella shared some numbers that put this into perspective: 007 First Light is currently the second best-selling game in the US this year. Only Resident Evil Requiem is ahead of it, with 7 million copies sold. What makes this even more impressive is that 007 First Light is a brand-new game, not part of an old, well-known series people already trust.

A first for IO Interactive

This is the first time IO Interactive has made a full James Bond game, and it’s the biggest project the studio has taken on outside of its Hitman games. The game leans into everything that makes being a spy fun! You can travel to different countries, sneaky missions, cool gadgets, and big action scenes. Actor Patrick Gibson plays a younger, greener version of Bond, someone still learning the ropes and figuring out how to survive MI6’s strict rules. It really feels like a passion project from the team behind it.

What comes next

Right now, you can play 007 First Light on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through Steam or the Epic Games Store. A Nintendo Switch 2 version also looks like it’s coming – listings on Amazon in both the US and Japan point to a possible release around September 16. That said, IO Interactive hasn’t officially confirmed this date yet, so it’s still just a rumor for now.

The big picture

Hitting 4 million sales this fast is a big win. It shows just how much people still love James Bond, and how well that love translates into the gaming world too.
