500 Gilgit-Baltistan Students to Receive Punjab Scholarships

Punjab government will distribute scholarships worth over Rs60 million among nearly 500 students from Gilgit-Baltistan, under directions from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed the distribution schedule on Monday. Students from seven educational institutions across Gilgit-Baltistan will receive the funds under the initiative.

Rana Sikandar described the scholarships as a gift from the Punjab government to students of Gilgit-Baltistan.

The minister said the Honhaar Scholarship Program maintains reserved quotas for students from all provinces, reflecting the policy of equal educational access without discrimination.

The minister noted that students from Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also receiving benefits under the Punjab government’s scholarship program. He announced plans to extend a similar scholarship initiative to students from Azad Jammu and Kashmir in the coming days.

Rana Sikandar said Maryam Nawaz remains committed to expanding educational opportunities for young people nationwide and would fulfil her commitments to the youth of Azad Kashmir as well.
