Google’s Robby Stein, VP of Product at Google Search, said on X, “Gemini 3.8 Flash has landed in Search.” This comes only a couple of weeks after Google brought Gemini 3.7 Flash to AI Mode within Google Search.
This will work in Google Search’s AI Mode for Google AI Pro & Ultra subscribers globally. This is a global roll out and if you are a subscriber, you can access it by clicking the plus icon and then selecting the model.
Robby Stein added:
It’s our most intelligent workhorse model yet, delivering significant improvements from 3.7 Flash across software engineering, agentic tasks, and multi-step reasoning. Available today in AI Mode for Google AI Pro & Ultra subs around the world.

Nick Fox, a head of Google Search, said on X:
Less than three weeks after 3.7, we’re introducing Gemini 3.8 Flash.
Gemini 3.8 Flash is Google’s “most intelligent workhorse model, delivering significant improvements from 3.7 Flash across software engineering, agentic tasks, and critical, multi-step reasoning in specialized domains.”
Of course, you’d think 3.7 Flash would be free on AI Mode now that 3.8 Flash is out but not yet:
