Apple has rolled out another round of security updates for macOS Tahoe, macOS Sequoia, and macOS Sonoma.
Thursday’s update is the second round of macOS updates to be released in less than two weeks. According to Apple, the patch solves an issue with Screen Sharing. The patch note reads, “An attacker on the network may be able to authenticate to Screen Sharing without valid credentials.”
Apple says that the issue was addressed with improved state management.
The release builds are as follows:
- macOS Tahoe 26.6.1, build number 25G76
- macOS Sequoia 15.7.9, build number 24G830
- macOS Sonoma 14.8.9, 23J631

- On your Mac, click the Apple Menu
- Click System Settings
- Click Software Update
- If available, click Update Now or schedule an update with Update Tonight
AppleInsider, alongside Apple, suggests that you download the update as soon as is convenient. These kinds of updates are critical for patching vulnerabilities and keeping your devices performing optimally.
This may be the new normal
If you believe Apple is releasing security updates more frequently than it has in the past, you are correct. Apple has gone on record saying that they will no longer wait to include updates in upcoming scheduled releases.
The company intends to further cut the time between discovery of an exploit and the update to address it. This is the same reason we saw the iOS 26.5.2 update in late June.
