This year’s Apple WWDC keynote felt lighter than usual. Beyond Siri AI and the manner in which he’ll permeate through the operating system across the iPhone, there seemed to be changes and new features to iOS 27.
However, the keynote reveal of iOS 27 might not have been the full story according to reporting over the weekend from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Apple is working at least three unannounced features that are expected to arrive during the autumn.
Gurman’s sources say a customisable camera app is in the works and Apple is waiting until the iPhone 18 Pro announcement this autumn to bring this new feature to life. What those customizations will consist of remains to be seen. However, Gurman reckons iPhone users will be able to place particular functionality at handier places within the app. This is a feature rumored in the run up to WWDC.
Furthermore, Apple is still working on bringing integration with more third-party chatbots to Siri, according to the report. Gurman said he’s surprised Apple did not reveal this integration at WWDC because the ability to switch between Siri and ChatGPT is present in the iOS 27 beta that’s currently available to developers. Gurman reckons the list will get longer in the future.
Finally, Gurman reckons the Apple Watch Ultra is getting a new Modular Ultra watch face that’ll arrive when watchOS 27 breaks cover later this year.
While those three tools wouldn’t be particularly groundbreaking, they may be welcome additions to the feature slate for an otherwise light update beyond the Google Gemini-powered Siri AI update. iOS 27 will be beta tested throughout the summer with the usual launch schedule coming in the autumn.
