If Facebook and Instagram are down for you, you’re not alone. Both of Meta’s largest social media platforms are experiencing widespread outages on Friday morning. Here’s the latest on the ongoing Facebook and Instagram outages…
The Instagram and Facebook outages began shortly after 9:30 a.m. ET/6:30 a.m. PT in the United States, according to widespread reports on other social media platforms like Reddit. The outage appears to be incredibly widespread, affecting Facebook and Instagram users around the globe.
Affected users say they were logged out of their Facebook accounts and are unable to log back in. Facebook for iPhone, for example, erroneously tells users to check their internet connection when trying to log in.
Instagram, meanwhile, is throwing a generic error message that says:
Sorry, something went wrong.
We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.
Facebook Messenger is also impacted by this outage. Other Meta services, like Threads and WhatsApp, appear to be operating as normal.
Meta has not commented on the Instagram and Facebook outages. There’s no timetable for a fix. Have you had problems with either service today? Let us know down in the comments.
