Change at the top of Deutsche Telekom’s finance department: Dr. Christian Illek will leave the company after the 2027 Annual General Meeting at the end of April for age-related reasons. His successor will be Dhananjay Mirchandani, who will succeed CFO Christian Illek on May 1, 2027. It was also decided at the Supervisory Board Meeting that Jan Hofmeyr will be appointed as the new Board Member for Product and Technology. The South African-born American will succeed Dr. Abdurazak (Abdu) Mudesir, who left the company at his own request in spring, on November 1, 2026. The new Chief Product & Digital Officer at Deutsche Telekom will be Mladen Mitic. He was previously responsible for B2C Commercial Growth in Deutsche Telekom’s Europe segment and will report to the new Board Member Product and Technology Hofmeyr in the future. Mitic succeeds Jonathan Abrahamson, who is leaving the company at his own request.
Jan Hofmeyr (58) brings more than three decades of technology and product leadership across cloud infrastructure, telecommunications, and consumer platforms. Most recently, Jan served as Vice President at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he led product and technology for AWS Edge services, including AWS Outposts, before taking on a broader role overseeing Amazon EC2 Networking services and later leading AWS’s Telco Industry business unit serving global telecommunications customers. Before AWS, Jan spent over a decade at Comcast, culminating in his role as Executive Vice President and Chief Network Officer, where he oversaw Comcast’s core network and communications platforms, national reliability engineering, and Cloud Services organization. Earlier at Comcast, he led the team that built and launched the X1 platform, scaling it to more than 30 million devices and launching its syndication business. Jan has also served on a corporate advisory board and held executive leadership roles at Entriq, a company that played a crucial role in the early infrastructure of paid internet live video and pay-per-view services. Prior to that, he spent seven years at Microsoft as Director of TV Strategy, co-founding the eHome division and leading development of Windows Media Center Edition, he received Microsoft’s IP Leadership Award in 2006 and holds several patents. Jan began his career in South Africa, where he helped launch the country’s first digital television satellite service and later helped launch MWEB, one of South Africa’s first internet service providers.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Electronic Engineering from Stellenbosch University, South Africa.
