Google Analytics Dashboards

Google Analytics is rolling out dashboards where you can create your own custom dashboards using Google Analytics data. Google explains that you can “create custom visualizations to quickly pull actionable insights from your Google Analytics data, all in a single, consolidated page.”

Google wrote, “Dashboards are now available in Google Analytics.”

Google added, “Dashboards are a highly flexible way to help businesses view their KPIs on a single report. This launch features enhanced UI capabilities, such as intuitive data visualization creation, drag-and-drop functionality, and new report visualizations.”

The help document explains that the key features include:

  • Consolidated, single-page KPI view: Consolidate cross-functional metrics into a single, flexible interface. This eliminates the need to navigate between multiple different reports to see core business KPIs.
  • Grid-based canvas layout: The dashboard uses a grid system and supports manual chart placement, alignment, and custom dimensions.
  • Drag-and-drop: Create charts by dragging and dropping dimensions and metrics directly onto the dashboard canvas.
  • Direct publication to left navigation: When saving a dashboard, you can choose to publish to left navigation without having to go through the library

The visualization types are supported:

  • Score cards: High-level KPIs that can include percentage changes when date comparisons are applied.
  • Table charts: Detailed reports that support shaded bar graphs and pagination.
  • Line charts: Visualizations for metrics over time, with support for daily, weekly, or monthly granularity.
  • Bar charts: Horizontal and vertical bars to compare dimensions.
  • Donut charts: Visualizations to see how parts contribute to a whole.
  • Funnel charts: Reports to monitor conversion steps and identify drop-off points.
