A user posted a question on LinkedIn about a common SEO content issue he is facing with an article: when to expand an existing article to cover a new sub-intent versus creating a separate, supporting article instead.

“For the past 30 minutes, I’ve been knee-deep trying to make an SEO decision. It’s one of those ‘it depends’ decisions where variables matter.
I found an existing article that clearly needs expansion, but there’s a sub-intent within the topic that I believe deserves to stand on its own.”
John Mueller replied on Linkedin:
“Sometimes there is no absolute right answer — but you can choose one, and make it the right answer.”
John Mueller is a good reminder that this kind of content decision often doesn’t have a single correct answer. Search intent, content depth, and topical relevance are all reasonable factors to weigh, but ultimately, committing to a well-reasoned choice matters more than searching for one “perfect” answer.
