Google has announced a number of updates to Google Merchant Center including the AI performance insights generally available, it has simplified Universal Commerce Protocol integration, and Google highlighted how using conversational and video attributes can help.
We covered the Google Merchant Center AI performance reports a ton already but Google is now saying “AI performance insights in Merchant Center is now available to businesses across Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, and the U.S.” We actually covered that expansion two weeks ago, but now Google is announcing it, since they did not announce it then. I should note, Google recently added new AI metrics to that report.
Here is a snazzy video Google released of this report:
Google also said it is rolling out access to a simplified Universal Commerce Protocol integration. Google wrote, “merchants who use the hub for UCP-powered checkout can also enable capabilities like cart transfer to a merchant site and enhanced checkout flow testing, with analytics and more coming soon.”
UCP integrations include:
- Transfer to merchant cart
- Native checkout on Google
- Identity linking
The new capabilities are gradually rolling out in the U.S., with Australia and Canada to follow early next year, Google added.
There is also UCP analytics:
Google added, “you can optimize your feed by using the video link attribute to automatically power highly visual, shoppable ad formats and submitting conversational attributes to add richer context to your product listings.” “Connecting your loyalty data in Merchant Center highlights member perks and pricing across Google,” is also a best practice.
