Google Search Profiles Lowers Subscriber Requirements

Google has dropped the minimum number of followers needed to be approved for a Search Profile on Google. Previously, it was 100,000 subscribers across YouTube, Instagram, X and Tiktok. Now it is 35,000 subscribers across YouTube, Instagram, and X but still 100,000 on TikTok.

Google updated a couple of its help documents with this new information including this document that now says:

You must have a minimum number of subscribers or followers on at least one content platform:

  • YouTube: 35,000
  • Instagram: 35,000
  • X: 35,000
  • TikTok: 100,000

The old version said:

You must have a minimum number of subscribers or followers on at least one content platform:

  • YouTube: 100,000
  • Instagram: 100,000
  • X: 100,000
  • TikTok: 100,000

So more of you can now claim your Google Search Profile.

“Search profiles are a dedicated, shareable space to highlight content across platforms, and help audiences find accurate, up-to-date information about sources on Search,” Google explained. You can follow your favorite publishers from the profile page, see a large header image, find the publisher’s other social profiles, the latest articles and more.

Robby Stein from Google also announced on X, “We’re lowering the follower thresholds so more creators and publishers can set them up,” and added that Google is “also expanding them to more countries soon.”
