Maruti Suzuki has confirmed the launch date for the updated Baleno. This marks the first significant update to a hatchback since 2022. The facelift will be unveiled on September 5, 2026. Looking at the automaker’s track record, bookings and deliveries should also begin sometime around the same date.

2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno: Pricing & Availability
Maruti hasn’t revealed official pricing yet, but the current Baleno ranges from ₹5.99-9.14 lakh ex-showroom, making it one of the most affordable four-cylinder petrol cars in the country. The facelift is expected to command a modest premium over that range once launched (around ₹10,000 to ₹15,000).
The hatchback will continue to compete against the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, and Toyota Glanza (though the Glanza is itself a rebadged version of the Baleno).

2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno: Key Features & Design Changes
Spy shots of test mules point to a reworked front fascia, which could be headlined by a redesigned grille featuring a chrome horizontal bar connecting the headlamps (similar to the new Dzire). We could also get to see a new bumper that drops the current model’s fog lamps entirely. The boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights carry over unchanged, though I’d like them to have a slightly sleeker, more minimal look.

Side profile updates could be limited to a fresh set of alloy wheels, while the rear picks up new tail-lights. Inside, the dashboard layout closely mirrors the outgoing model, retaining the 9-inch touchscreen, trapezoidal air-con vents, and three-spoke steering wheel. However, Maruti appears to be adding a single-pane sunroof, revised upholstery, along with some ambient lighting in the cabin to add some upmarket feel.

The powertrain lineup looks set to remain unchanged, with the familiar 90hp 1.2-liter petrol and 77.5hp CNG options continuing as before. I think holding the powertrain steady while focusing entirely on feature parity is the sensible move here, as it positions Baleno as one of the few options in the segment with a four-cylinder engine.
