A 6.78-inch flat display at 185Hz with these proportions will be visually clean without the thickness penalty of a curved screen. The display size is unchanged from the OnePlus 15. The bezel treatment and refresh rate ceiling are the upgrades.

The Battery Is the Headline

Nine thousand milliamp-hours would be the largest battery ever shipped in a OnePlus flagship. The OnePlus 15 carried a 6,000mAh cell — the 16 is targeting a 50% capacity increase. DCS was careful to frame it as “the current plan” rather than a finalized spec, which suggests the engineering team is still working through the chassis implications. A 100W wired and 50W wireless charging combination would make the large cell practical enough for daily use without multi-hour top-up times.

ColorOS 17 — A Software Milestone Nobody Asked For

The OnePlus 16 arriving with ColorOS 17 isn’t just a software update — it’s the formal end of OxygenOS as a platform. For buyers who’ve followed OnePlus specifically for its near-stock Android experience, this matters. ColorOS 17 is capable and well-reviewed, but it’s a different product with a different design philosophy. Whether existing OnePlus fans accept that trade-off will define how the 16 is received, entirely independent of its hardware merits.
