Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the National Information Technology Board (NITB) to focus on providing citizens with easier, more efficient, and modern digital government services.
The prime minister issued the directives while chairing a review meeting on ongoing reforms at NITB and progress on the construction of the Islamabad Technology Park.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that all relevant institutions should work in coordination to ensure timely, transparent, and accessible digital services for citizens.
He said facilitating citizens in accessing government services remains a key priority of the government. The prime minister also directed authorities to further improve all government digital platforms in line with modern requirements.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the transition of federal ministries to e-office systems as one of the most significant reforms undertaken under the government’s IT and digital transformation agenda.
He directed that the use of e-office systems be ensured across all subordinate departments and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) of the federal government.
The prime minister instructed authorities to accelerate the digitalization of government institutions and make full use of modern technologies.
He also directed that the digitization of records of all government-owned properties be completed as soon as possible.
According to a briefing presented during the meeting, all federal ministries have already shifted to e-office systems, while efforts are underway to expand the system across other government departments and state-owned entities.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed displeasure over delays in the completion of the Islamabad Technology Park.
He directed authorities to complete the project as soon as possible and make the technology park operational on a priority basis.
The prime minister further instructed that the Islamabad Technology Park should be fully outsourced for its operations to ensure efficient management.
Officials briefed the meeting that the rightsizing process of NITB has been completed, while appointments to key positions are being made through a transparent process.
The meeting also reviewed progress on the construction of the Islamabad Technology Park and discussed measures to accelerate its completion.
Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Dr. Musadik Masood Malik, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and senior officials from relevant institutions attended the meeting.
