Today in China, Redmi made the K90 Ultra official, ending many months of leaks, rumors, and speculation regarding the device. The K90 Ultra comes with the older Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset at the helm, but it pairs it with a built-in active cooling fan which is claimed to lower the temperature by up to 10°C, ensuring that long gaming sessions won’t see any throttling. There’s also a standalone D2 interpolation chip for gaming.

The phone boasts a 6.83-inch 1280×2772 flat AMOLED panel with 165Hz refresh rate, 3,500-nit peak brightness, and full array DC dimming, a 50MP main camera with OIS that uses a 1/1.55″ type sensor, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 20MP selfie shooter.

The lights are kept on by an 8,550mAh battery with support for 100W wired and 22.5W reverse wired charging. The K90 Ultra ships with a 100W GaN charger in the box. The device’s dual symmetrical stereo speakers are tuned by Bose. It has IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. It runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.

The K90 Ultra is being offered in Space Silver, Shadow Black, and Sky Blue. Normal pricing starts at CNY 2,999 ($441) with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, but there’s currently a promo running where for the same amount of money you get 16GB of RAM instead. That version is usually priced at CNY 3,199 ($470). There’s also the 12/512GB model for CNY 3,499 ($515) and the 16/512GB range-topper for CNY 3,699 ($544).

It’s unlikely that the Redmi K90 Ultra will ever be officially sold outside of China, the best we can hope for is seeing a similar device launching under the Poco brand in the next few months. Don’t hold your breath though.
