Segway has introduced the MAX G3 Plus, an upgraded electric scooter aimed at commuters who need longer range, stronger performance, and more control across uneven city streets. Pre-orders open in the United States on August 4, with an introductory price of $1,149.99, a $350 reduction from the $1,499.99 MSRP.
The MAX G3 Plus builds on Segway’s MAX G3 platform with a larger battery, revised braking hardware, dedicated rear turn signals, and a new riding-assistance system. Shipments are scheduled to begin August 25 through Segway’s online store, Best Buy, and Amazon.
A Larger Battery Pushes Range to 56 Miles
A 717Wh battery gives the MAX G3 Plus 20 percent more capacity than the standard MAX G3. Segway rates the scooter for up to 56 miles per charge, though practical results will vary with riding mode, speed, terrain, temperature, and rider weight.
Segway is using a revised range-testing method for this model. Rather than measuring until the battery is completely depleted, the company now records the distance traveled at each mode’s maximum speed until performance falls to 60 percent of that mode’s top speed.
That approach is intended to produce a more useful estimate of everyday range. Segway says the MAX G3 Plus would deliver roughly 12 additional miles over the MAX G3 when both scooters are measured under the same standard.
The scooter produces up to 2,200 watts of power, reaches a top speed of 28 mph, and can accelerate from zero to 15 mph in 2.4 seconds when using Boost Mode. It is rated to tackle slopes of up to 30 percent.
Braking and Riding Assistance Receive Key Updates
The MAX G3 Plus uses larger 140mm brake rotors, redesigned brake levers, and dual cable-operated disc brakes. Segway’s Intelligent Combined Braking System activates regenerative braking alongside the physical brakes, helping recover energy and reduce mechanical wear.
Intelligent Riding Assist uses data from a gyroscopic sensor to adjust how the scooter responds to changing conditions. It can provide extra assistance when climbing hills, improve control on descents, and reduce throttle sensitivity across rough pavement. That could prove useful in cities where smooth asphalt is treated more like a pleasant rumor.
Dual hydraulic suspension, four shock absorbers, and 11-inch self-sealing tires handle cushioning duties. The rear suspension can be adjusted, giving riders some room to tailor the setup.
Smart Features and Improved Visibility
A 2.4-inch color TFT display provides navigation and ride information. The scooter supports Segway’s app-based AirLock feature and works with Apple Find My for location tracking.
Lighting includes an automatic headlight with high- and low-beam control, white underglow lighting, handlebar turn signals, newly added rear turn signals, and a brake light. Segway has repositioned the reflectors to improve visibility from multiple angles.
Other features include traction control, anti-lock braking, SegRide stability assistance, battery-management software, and IPX6 water resistance. The MAX G3 Plus weighs 55.6 pounds and supports riders weighing up to 286 pounds.
FlashCharge technology provides a claimed four-hour charging time with one cable or three hours when using two charging cables. Buyers can find pre-order details through the official Segway website, with retail availability set for August 25.
