Supacat will be showcasing its latest High Mobility Transporter (HMT) integrated with the capabilities required for the battlefield of today for the UK Ministry of Defence and British Armed Forces at this year’s DVD event.
Supacat will present on stand OR-27 the third generation High Mobility Transporter as delivered to the British Army known as the Jackal platform; the vehicle of choice for the UK Land Mobility Programme. Fitted with the ‘Extenda’ unit to increase payload and range, the Jackal 3E is demonstrated supporting advanced weapon and sensor systems while retaining the high mobility and logistical efficiency that defines the platform.
The scenario demonstrated at this year’s DVD showcases the networking of Sense, Decide and Effect. The first platform is fitted with an UltraEAK GVA suite providing the hardware and open architecture.
This platform is ‘mothership’ to an ARX Robotics Gereon UGV, trickle charging and ready to deploy that final bound to ensure the crew can sense from a safe distance. Once the threat is identified and confirmed via the GVA suite by the crew, the command to Effect with the most appropriate means is sent to an additional platform somewhere on the battlefield.
For DVD, this is the second platform on the stand being integrated with a ‘coop’ of Barkhan autonomous precision-strike drones provided by Harmattan. Due to UltraEAK being ‘open’ by design it means the C2 can be provided by companies such as Harmattan AI with their Kalahari command network.
The ‘coop’ is designed to ensure the mission critical effectors are free from moister and dust, trickle charging, stored and deployable via the GVA system. As with the ARX Gereon, the deployment and control of the Barkhan is conducted via the digital backbone of GVA, made possible by the automation of the ‘coop’.
Once deployed this UAV begins autonomous reconnaissance of the operational area, identifying and validating the hostile target before adjusting its attack path in real time to hit moving or defended targets accurately. Using the ‘coop’ solution and filled with Barkhan, Swarm Operations can be deployed as the drone is able to work alone or in coordinated groups to strike targets quickly.
The stand showcases collaborative work with industry partners including, ARX Robotics, Harmattan AI & Ultra PCS. These partnerships span high mobility configured to deploy the latest autonomous systems integrated into the platforms with a strike capability to cause the required effect. Capability at this scale requires industrial partnership. As well as on-stand partners, other defence innovators are showcasing cutting-edge vehicle configurations utilising HMT platforms at their respective booths.
Displays include Moog and MBDA featuring the HMT Armoured Closed Cab for short-range air defence, Leonardo DRS demonstrating MFoCS tactical computing on an HMT Mk2, Leonardo and DTSL presenting a C-UAS system using Jackal 3 with MIPS and an EOS R400 remote weapon station, Saab showcasing a Jackal with the Giraffe 1X radar, and Babcock highlighting the GDAMS mortar system on a Jackal 3 Extenda.
