The Dual-Mode Camera Launching in 2026

HOVERAir has introduced the VERSA, a compact camera system that can operate as a stabilized handheld gimbal camera or, with an optional Flight Kit, an autonomous flying camera.

Launching through Indiegogo on August 18, 2026, the HOVERAir VERSA starts with early-bird pricing at the Hong Kong dollar equivalent of $449. Local pricing will vary with exchange rates. The campaign will be open to customers worldwide.

One Camera, Two Ways To Shoot

At its core, VERSA is a pocketable camera built around a three-axis mechanical gimbal. It is designed for travelers, families, solo creators, and anyone who wants stabilized video without carrying a larger camera rig.

The more unusual part comes from the optional Flight Kit. Users can attach lightweight flight wings with a single click, turning VERSA into a self-flying camera capable of capturing aerial footage and autonomous tracking shots.

That setup gives creators a single camera for handheld footage, selfies, first-person video, follow shots, and aerial perspectives. It is an interesting middle ground between the familiar handheld gimbal camera and HOVERAir’s established self-flying camera concept.

Once airborne, VERSA supports palm takeoff and landing, autonomous tracking, and flight modes including Orbit, Bird’s Eye, and Zoom Out.

AI Handles Framing And Composition

HOVERAir is leaning heavily on automated shooting features to make VERSA easier to use without a dedicated camera operator.

AI subject tracking and Auto Framing are designed to keep people positioned properly in the shot. AI Composition can automatically frame and optimize scenes, giving solo creators another way to record themselves without repeatedly adjusting the camera.

VERSA includes a feature called 3D Worlds, which captures and renders three-dimensional scenes that users can later move through and view from different perspectives.

A 1/1.3-Inch Sensor And 4K/60fps Recording

HOVERAir says VERSA uses a 1/1.3-inch sensor capable of delivering 17.5 stops of dynamic range. The camera records video at up to 4K/60fps and supports 10-bit HDR and H-Log recording.

The company is positioning the camera for a wide range of lighting conditions, citing improved low-light performance alongside its high dynamic range capabilities. Those specifications should give creators more flexibility when editing footage compared with simpler point-and-shoot cameras, though real-world image quality will need to be judged once the hardware is available for testing.

The system’s appeal comes from combining those camera specifications with the ability to leave the ground when the shot calls for it. Rather than packing a handheld camera and a separate flying camera, VERSA is designed to cover both jobs.

Indiegogo Launch And Retail Availability

HOVERAir VERSA is available to order worldwide through Indiegogo beginning August 18, with early-bird pricing starting at the HKD equivalent of $449.

Following the crowdfunding campaign, HOVERAir expects VERSA to reach selected retail partners and online sales channels in fall 2026. The company will give media an in-person preview during IFA Berlin, with a press event scheduled for September 3 ahead of the show.
