My Story:
Well, as the intro indicated we will be talking about this hybrid tent/tipi from SEEK OUTSIDE called the BOOK CLIFF, and let me tell you it’s worth talking about!
You guys! I am so excited to finally be able to talk to you about the BOOK CLIFF!
I have worked with SEEK several times over the years and have nothing but good things to say about the company. Unrelated, but the backpack I use is a SEEK pack and it’s one of the most underrated backpacks out there. I have hauled more gear, meat, and supplies with it than any other pack, but I digress…
I love backcountry hunting and have done so with my SEEK 6 Man Tipi for nearly a decade. I had to send it in for a zipper repair and began talking with my friends at SEEK about needing more space. So, they decided to let me demo a new product called the BOOK CLIFF and I was over the moon!
The BOOK CLIFF arrived just prior to an Alaska ice fishing trip I had planned so I had to stow my excitement until that trip was over. When I returned home I had to take the time to seam seal the tent and this was a bit of a process as I had to use my basement and could only do a couple sections at a time. I used around four tubes of sealant to get this accomplished. Once that was done immediately planned a trip with my hunting buddies.
We decided to go on a weekend trip to the Juniper Dunes Wilderness area in Washington State. This is a very unique place that I knew would be a great testing area. It is sandy soil and typically can have some good wind. So, I felt it would be a fantastic testing arena with the chance of some challenges.

The BOOK CLIFF is really rather simple to set up. SEEK OUTSIDE plans put a very simple to follow YouTube video up to show how to assemble, but if you have tipi experience it should be very straight forward.
Due to my experience with tipi camping I found setup to be very simple as we are in a very sandy area with little to no rock. This allowed for a high level of adjustment and that made all the difference. Here is one of our TikTok videos showing a time-lapse of tent assembly and if you click this link, might as well give us a follow! 🙂
Once the BOOKCLIFF was pitched, we needed to assemble the stove. For this we are using the SEEK XL titanium stove. Below you will find the instructional video from SEEK and the link for stove assembly instructions. It is pretty straight forward and something I strongly doubt you will struggle with after watching this video.

Now that we had a fully assembled tent and stove it was time to get the inside situated. The last thing to do was install the tent liner. We believe these are an absolute must have as they do wonders for condensation.

Once the liner was in and stove was rolling we needed to see how things felt and just how well we could use up the space. We brought a variety of cots and extra gear and still had so much room for activities! No joke, this thing is huge inside. Plenty of room to stand up and get changed, dry gear, store gear, and sleep comfortably. This is the real deal!

The BOOK CLIFF offers one very unique option that we were very excited about. The option to create a porch/awning with one whole panel from the tent. This makes loading and unloading the tent a breeze and also allows for some open air on the nice days. This is something I am positive we will be using when the weather allows.

You likely notice that there are now 4 poles needed for this configuration. If backcountry hunting you could simply bring some cut timber to serve the purpose and save some weight. For testing though, I had some spare poles around and brought them to test out this feature. Again, I freaking love this!
During our testing we hunted 3 guys, stove, gear, and wood! The BOOK CLIFF reigns supreme and we can’t wait for this years backcountry trip as we will be camping in style! Yes, there will be some additional weight but the added space is worth it and the entire system packs down into a very manageable package that can easily be split up between your party.

What can be done better?
While I can’t think of many things I would change or do better with the design or tent itself, I would love to see some type of wrap around addition to the liner to cover the vestibule area. This would be an over the top awesome addition to an already amazing product.
