DJI OSMO 360 Launch Date and Key Features Unveiled

DJI is about to make serious waves in the 360 camera space with the upcoming Osmo 360, a feature-packed device set to launch on July 29, 2025.

Leaked product descriptions and images from European retailers have revealed everything — and this looks like DJI’s most aggressive push yet into 360 video territory.

🔍 Key Specs – DJI Osmo 360

  • Native 8K 360° Video – Uses a 1-inch CMOS sensor and innovative pixel mapping for massive 120MP image capture and ultra-high dynamic range.

  • Low-Light Beast – f/1.9 aperture combined with 2.4µm pixels delivers strong performance even in dark scenes.

  • 10-bit D-Log M – Supports 10-bit color depth for both 360° and standard video; enables better post-processing and color grading.

  • High Frame Rate – Shoot 4K/120fps (170° FOV), 5K/60fps (155° FOV), or up to 6K/60fps in 360 mode. Includes 4x slow motion and 4K/100fps options.

  • OsmoAudio™ Direct Mic Support – Supports dual mic transmitters with ambient backup recording. Fully compatible with the new DJI Mic 3.

  • Magnetic Quick-Release – Integrates seamlessly with Osmo Action mounts and features magnetic charging and accessories.

  • Gesture + Voice Control – Hands-free shooting with glove-compatible gesture commands and smart voice input.

  • Extended Battery Life – 8K/30fps recording for up to 100 minutes; up to 180 mins with optional Battery Extension Bar (sold separately).

  • Invisible Selfie Stick Support – Drone-like third-person shots without post-editing.

DJI vs Insta360 X5 – Direct Head-to-Head

The DJI Osmo 360 is a direct challenger to the Insta360 X5, which currently dominates the high-end consumer 360 market.

DJI seems to have taken Insta360’s best features — native 8K, invisible stick, modular design — and dialed them up with better heat management, longer runtime, and direct pro audio integration via the DJI Mic 3. With 10-bit D-Log M, native 8K recording, and gesture/voice control, DJI is not just matching Insta360 — it’s trying to beat them on quality, usability, and price (likely slightly undercutting Insta360’s MSRP).

What’s clear is DJI wants to pull users into their Osmo ecosystem — and with these specs, it just might work.

🗓 Release Date

July 29, 2025 is the confirmed launch date for both the Osmo 360 and the DJI Mic 3. The Osmo Nano, previously expected earlier, has been pushed to August.

This is shaping up to be one of DJI’s most significant consumer releases this year.

If you’re into 360 content creation, it might be time to hold off on that X5 purchase — the Osmo 360 could be the better all-round package.

Big thanks to Jasper Ellens for breaking this story and Mic Ty and Christiaan Roest for sharing the leaks. Always appreciate the heads up 🙂
